What Media Does the Society Today. 3rd Blog Post
For some time now, television has influenced the lives of many children and young adults; whether its making them act different from what they saw or do something bad also because of what they saw. Priming means that it activates one thought in a human's mind when watching something interesting on tv and triggers another thought in the mind. Priming mostly affects young kids and teens because of what they see on tv. Television shows and commercials display such things like kids playing with guns, getting into fights, acting tough, or saying inappropriate words and instantly they want to act or saw what they saw on tv. A perfect example of priming would come from a clip in Family Guy; The clip is set up by Peter, Joe, Cleveland, Quagmire, and Brian are watching Jackass on tv and see them doing stupid stunts, so they decided to do what they did because they saw it on tv. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEhrPCr1iq8
