Lawrence Wise's 2nd Blog Post

What seemed interesting to me is how the media uses agenda setting to their advantage. They use anything from news, commercials, and television shows. Cartoons especially are used for media agenda setting to send their messages out to every viewer. Whenever there is a big contraversy whether its dealing with politics, social issues, etc. they eventually are shown in some way in any cartoon. For example, the televsion shows such as, "American Dad," "Family Guy" and other shows use stereotypcial issues to create humor but they are still sending the same message. An example of this would be a clip from "American Dad," Stan tries to talk to his gay neighbor's dad about how great his kid is but the father rejects his son. http://www.hulu.com/watch/72508/american-dad-gay-son-talk#s-p6-sr-i1. This clip shows how some families are towards their own sons/daughters, brothers/sisters. Stereotyping gays in the social world and how they are treated with everyone. The media's agenda setting is influenced everywhere in world whether it has to do with politics, social issues, entertainment, etc. but in all they are all opinionated by the media on what to show.
