Globalization in the World

Globalization is a term used in the connection between people in the world which is caused by advances in technology. The advances in technology have given communication various way to communicate with people across the globe. For example, a student in the United States talking to another student in Japan share different cultures and ways of living which shows one another how they are different from one another but still accept each other. These advances affect cultural imperalism, which is when all cultures are joining together to become one culture and Westernized. Cultures becoming westernized reflects the culture of the United States which is infuencing the other cultures to also change their culture habits into the ways of life in the United States. Social media is another form that helps cultural imperalism increase because of the various ways of communication. Internet sites such as Facebook, Myspace and Twitter give society a way to stay connected with one another and meet new people that are across the world or even in another state. 

Dominance of Apple over PC

There have been plenty different Apple vs. PC computers commercials that tell the viewers that Apple is way better than PC. These commercials have been airing for quite sometime now and I believe they are a persuasive advertisement because they compare different aspects between Apple and PC in every commercial and the results are always the same, Apple is better. These advertisement take the appeal of dominance because in every Apple vs PC commercial Apple basically tells everyone "We are better in everyway." Apple uses characteristics of style, saying how their products aren't slow and that they have more programs than PC. 3-Act Hollywood Structure

There are different ways that a blockbuster movie can be made but the most common type of movie made is in the 3-Act Hollywood structure. The 3-Act Hollywood structure is known as the "Happy Ending Structure" which basically means the climax is shifted to the end of the film, an example of this sort of film would be Transformers.  The film starts off with Sam Whitwicky (Shia Lebeouf) in school giving a presentation to his class and after school is out Sam and his father go to find Sam his first car. Unfortunatley for Sam, his first car is an alien robot from outerspace sent to protect him. During the first plot point of the film, Sam's car starts acting weird without any driver behind the wheel. He soon finds out that his car is no ordinary car but an Autobot from outerspace which sets up the next plot point. The next scene of the film is a shot of meteors flying into Earth which are other robotic aliens coming to aide Sam's car, Bumblebee. In this plot point, the Autobots inform Sam about why they are on Earth and they need his help to find the Cube which is the life source of their planet. The next plot point in the film occurs when Sam and a few other characters find the Cube inside a government facility. Once they found the cube the Decepticons, the enemies of the Autobots come to Earth in search of the cube and their leader, Megatron. Megatron is ressurected from captivity and escapes into the city with his followers by his side. Bumblebee and Sam are escorted to safety by specially trained marines and the rest of the Autobots. The climax or the "Happy Ending" of the film happens when both the Autobots and Decepticons meet in New York City and battle it out to retrieve the cube from Sam. The film starts to end when Optimus Prime, leader of the Autobots and Megatron the leader of the Decepticons fight until only one lives but Sam interferes and puts the cube which is full of energy into Megatron's chest and kills him. The last few scenes of the movie are of the Optimus Prime thanking the humans for their help while the Decepticons are being dumped into the ocean. The "Happy Ending" of the film is when all the Autobots and Sam with his girlfriend are on a hill watching the horizon while a voice over of Optimus Prime's voice sending a message to outerspace calling all Autobot survivors to come to Earth for safety.http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi973209625/

The characteristics of a Drama

Any show can keep the viewers entertained, depending on the perferred genre of television show. If they enjoy hearing jokes, funny comments made by characters then comedy would be the perfect genre. Maybe they want a more serious show but still get a few smiles on their faces then Drama is where they would want to go. The characteristics of a drama series would consist of the show being an hour long, more of a serious show and also has more of a serial than episodic view. Comedy on the other hand is a half hour show, episodic so it never continues on to the next episode of the season and of course, it has more of a funny mood.

One of my favorite shows in the drama genre would have to be NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Services). The main idea of the show is a group of special agents from NCIS who conduct criminal investigations involving the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. This show is at times serial because some situations that are shown in an episode are carried onto the next episode until the team solves the case. The show is mostly all serious but it has a few funny moments in all their episodes to lighten the mood, but the show overall would be classified as drama series. For example, the main character Leroy Jethro Gibbs was a former marine who had several enemies throughout his years in the military and while in NCIS. In many episodes of the series criminals in the episodes are tied into Gibb's past life which at times makes the episode more focused on a character and how he/she knew them in the past.

3 different shots in a movie

In Resident Evil, the shot progress instead of being long shot to close up in this scene it's a close up to a long shot. In the last two minutes of the film, a close up shot of Alice's face showing her expressions of surprised and confused when she sees the destruction of the city. Then comes the medium shot of Alice walking through the city and walks by a newspaper article with the title, "THE DEAD WALK!" which basically informs the audience on how this destruction came to happen. Finally in the last 30-45 seconds of the film, a long aerial shot of the camera beginning to zoom out of Alice holding a gun standing by herself creating that feeling of being alone in the city.

How studio system works...

The studio system worked in many different ways. Some companies would only make certain kinds of movies only because of the actors/actresses they have on contract. Most of the companies success have been through vertical integration, being able to assemble on site and having the actors/actresses needed for their movies. This system affected the films they made because they would only use the same characters, same types of movies because that was all they were good at performing in. For example, most of the actors hired in companies always do the same movies because thats all the company they belong to is know for.

"All in the family" then "Modern Family" Now

TV shows back then had different views on many issues whether its about a person's sexuality, gender, race, etc but now a days these issues don't seem to bother anyone now. The episode of "All in the Family" was dealing with the issue of what Archie thought about gay people. "Modern Family" is a TV show that doesn't make gay people look bad rather makes them an important character in the show. These two shows are different because one of the main characters of "All in the Family" has issues towards gay people while most characters in "Modern Family" are complelty fine with gay people and two of the main characters are gay. The shows are the same because the father in "All in the Family" has issues with gay people, and the father of one of the gay characters accepts them but still has a little concern with gay people.
